The Kan body protector is unique – it contains moulded foam panels which have been developed by Knox, the specialist brand dedicated to the design and manufacture of impact protection and leading OEM supplier to motorcycle clothing brands, they have used the experience gained by designing and developing innovative protective garments over the last 25 years to create a revolutionary body form for female equestrian riders. The form, which perfectly follows the female shape, is made from a very special blend of polyurethane foams that includes a secret ingredient. This material is flexible and comfortable and gives outstanding impact performance.
The KAN body protector incorporates a material which is advanced Polyurethane High Resiliency foam, the secret of which is a 3 part blended mix of PU liquids and special additives that give a soft yet firm feel. This blended mix is injected into specially shaped moulds and expands to fill the desired shape.
Traditional body protectors are made from Nitrile PVC rubber which is very difficult to form due to its very high density which will always try to remain flat. This is why the majority of body protectors are made in a blocked form as it is the only way to give flexibility and shape.
Unlike Nitrile PVC which is effectively a solid material, the Knox HR foam is full of open and closed cells with air trapped within it. It is these open and closed cells that create convoluted passageways that lets the trapped air move freely. However when under load (impact), the air can't move freely so it gets compressed and helps to absorb energy.”
Therefore, the foam used in the KAN body protector is technically superior to any other form of body protection available today.
