The outer material is stretchy, so when trying on at first, push the foam parts together by putting your hands into the armhole and lifting the front pieces towards the centre frontl. Ask someone else to zip it up for the first time although you will be able to zip it up yourself easily once you get the knack of clamping your elbows to your sides.
If it is tight at the bottom or a bit tricky to zip up, simply move up a size.
Don’t worry too much about the length at this stage as that can easily be altered. The important thing is to assess the fit around your torso and that the KAN nestles into the small of your back without rising higher than the level of the shoulder.
If you cannot feel your ribcage pushing against the sides go down a size.
The KAN should cover but not constrict your rib cage.
The shoulders can be lifted / drawn closer, using the velcro on each side.
The internal body belt can be fastened to pull the back of the body protector into the small of the back.
The position of the shoulder pad can also be moved by altering the velcro on each side.
Slightly raise one leg or perch on the edge of a chair to establish the point at the very top of the leg (this point is inline with the coccyx). Look in a mirror side on (or get someone else to help) and see if the back of the body protector hangs lower than the point at the top of your leg. If it does the foam back needs to be trimmed. We make this alteration free of charge.
Sit on a saddle to check the fit and comfort.
Owing to the innovative composition of the foam in your Kan, it will not break down as other foams do. You should expect this body protector to last for many years. The outer cover can be replaced if necessary.
