Doctors work with Kan Body Protectors at Doctors at Events Training Day
We are delighted to have been asked to provide KAN body protectors for a recent Emergency Care at Equine Events training day for medics. “Doctors at Events” devises and delivers courses in pre-hospital care and their equine specific course, approved by the Medical Equestrian Association aims to improve the initial assessment and management of injured riders. The recent course at Oaksey House included “in the field” scenarios where a series of scenarios were set up with riders equipped with KAN body protectors. The KAN body protectors were put through their paces in a variety of simulated falls then the doctors and paramedics were asked to assess patients and manage their “injuries”appropriately. Ted Adams, one of the Directors of Doctors at Events, said “none of the doctors on the course had any major problems with removing the KAN in the scenarios that were set up on the day. In the event of an emergency the KAN body protectors can be removed with relative ease. Whilst you might not want a doctor to cut through a KAN on a normal day, if you’re in a nasty situation, where that might be necessary, its good to know that its possible.” Dr Ted Adams MSc, MBChB, DFSRH, Cert Mgmt (HSC) Director, Doctors at Events
